Colonials roll to 9-1-2 Overall with Help from NYCAC Player of the Week Brian Hilton

Southampton, NY — Senior goalkeeper Brian Hilton had a big week. Not only did he claim the NYCAC Player of the Week award, for the week of October 20th, but he also helped his team remain undefeated in the conference, 4-0, and improve their overall record to an impressive 9-1-2.

Hilton was the man in net for Southampton College leading the Colonials to a pair of conference road victories against C.W. Post and Dowling. On October 15th Hilton made five saves at C.W. Post guiding the Colonials to a 1-0 shutout in overtime, his third shutout of the season. Then, only three days later at Dowling College, Hilton again made five saves in a 2-1 victory helping Southampton College bring their conference record to a perfect 4-0.

During that week Hilton played 184 minutes in the net for the Colonials allowing only one goal and posting a save percentage of .909. Hilton has played in eight of the Colonials 12 games this season and been in net for a total of 680 minutes. During that time he has amassed 48 saves, 6 victories, 3 shutouts, a .53 goals per game average, and a .923 save percentage. The three shutouts rank Hilton at number three in the NYCAC, and Southampton College as a team is ranked number one in total goals allowed, with 8, and goals allowed per game, with .67.

Hilton holds the top two slots on the team in saves per game, stopping 17 shots against Bloomsburg on September 6th, and making 7 saves against American Int. University on September 23rd.

The Colonials next face NYIT at home in what will be their fifth conference game on October 25th at 2:00pm. A victory will keep them perfect in the NYCAC, and with Hilton in net, their chances look good.
