Admission
to Southampton
Each year Southampton Graduate Campus enrolls students from all over
the United States and the world. The admissions committee seeks
to admit students who will contribute personally and academically
to the College community.
Upon application for admission, Southampton requires an official
high school transcript, SAT and/or ACT scores, and, for transfers
and graduate students, all official college transcripts. In
addition, applicants are encouraged to submit an essay and
two letters of recommendation. Art students are required to
submit a portfolio. Consideration for scholarships occurs
at the point of admission. Personal on-campus admission interviews
are highly recommended. Scholarships may range from $2,000
a year to full-tuition, and writing and art scholarships are
available. An online application is available at our website
(www.southampton.liu.edu).
Freshman applicants are encouraged to apply February 1 of
their senior year in high school. Early decision applicants
should apply before Dec. 1. The College also considers early
admission applications from outstanding high school juniors
who have fulfilled their graduation requirements. The admissions
committee makes decisions on a rolling basis. The College
does grant credit for Advanced Placement and International
Baccalaureate coursework and exams.
Transfer students are encouraged to apply well in
advance of their intended Southampton Graduate Campus start term.
The College accepts up to 68 transfer credits from two-year
colleges and 98 credits from four-year colleges. A preliminary
evaluation of transfer credits is done at the point of admission.
Graduate students can apply with the enclosed application
or online. The admission office may request further application
information.
International students are required to have achieved
a 525 TOEFL score or demonstrated proficiency in English as
their primary language. For students who do not meet these
requirements, the college may offer admission through our
Intensive English as a Second Language program. All international
students are considered for scholarship at the point of admission.
Financial Aid and Scholarships Drawing on a wide
variety of grants, scholarships, loans, and work/study programs,
the College makes every effort to help students bridge the
gap between the cost of their education and what they can
afford to pay. Students who need financial aid should complete
the Free Application for Federal Student Assistance (FAFSA)
form by February 1 in order to be given priority consideration
for all available state, federal, and Southampton Graduate Campus
financial aid. Freshman applicants with an 85 or higher cumulative
high school g.p.a. and transfer applicants with a 3.0 or higher
cumulative g.p.a. will be considered for academic scholarships
ranging from $3,000 a year to full-tuition.
International and graduate students are considered for academic
scholarships on a case-by-case basis. For more information
