Major requirements of the B.A. in Elementary Education cover a broad range of integrated topics including Developmental Psychology, Classroom Management, Computers for Teachers, and Teaching Exceptional Students. Throughout your course of study you will have the opportunity to observe and teach in public schools, and at the Children's School, our on-campus nursery program. Your educational experience will culminate in a full semester of teaching in a local public school.

For those who prefer to teach a specific subject, Southampton offers four options: the B.S. in Art "K-12" Teacher, the B.A. in Biology "7-12", B.A. in English "7-12" and B.A. in Social Studies "7-12". The B.S. in Art "K-12" Teacher develops your artistic sense using a wide range of media and provides the teaching methods and techniques you'll need to stimulate and inspire creativity in your students.

The B.A. in Biology "7-12", B.A. in English "7-12," and B.A. in Social Studies "7-12" provide a broad foundation of generalized educational coursework in addition to intense concentration in the area of specialization. The B.S. in Art "K-12" Teacher and the three Secondary Education degree programs also offer a variety of interesting student teaching opportunities.
